My Best Friends Tropical Bridal Shower
In just one month my best friend Ericka will get married in an intimate ceremony in Jamaica mon’. Here are some photos from Ericka‘s tropical bridal shower that my friend Maggie and I hosted.
Maggie ordered flower picks as well as Hawaiian leis and helped to decorate. She also served mango mimosas and an adorable cheese plate.
We wanted to make sure the theme seemed tropical but not over the top and cheesy. With Maggie’s help I think we accomplished that. Maggie is super creative, I really couldn’t have done it with out her.
I also chose to buy some chevron tissue paper to cover the tables in rather than large table clothes. Anything available seemed a little tacky and this was a tasteful and affordable alternative.
As for the cake… the plan was originally cake pops. Then I thought that might too much work for my 8 months pregnant feet and back and changed it to cupcakes. Then last minute I couldn’t even do that 🙁
As much as it killed me, I bought this coconut cake at Wegmans.
But I did give it a little personal touch. I used some of my left over mangoes and a small heart shaped cookie cutter and put them on top of the cake.
It looked really pretty and was easy!
Here is the happy bride to be opening her gifts. (Check out Ericka’s blog)
Ericka and I have been friends for almost 7 years now (she hosted my bridal shower too!) and when we met as recent college grads who had just moved to DC marriage (aside from our new careers) was something we talked about frequently.
Who would it be? What kind of wedding did we want? Would it ever really happen? All these years later and here we are. Happy in love.
Ericka, I am so very happy for you and wish you and your groom all the happiness in the world. You deserve it so much. Love you, drink a pina colada for me!
