Boozy Sour Watermelon Basil Popsicles

Isn’t it funny how fruit flavors have two personalities. Banana candy tastes nothing like real bananas.

I love, love, love grape flavored things. But they taste nothing like grapes.

These pops have the best of both worlds. They taste a little like real watermelon but then at the same time you get a sour bite of watermelon flavoring. Like a little hint of a watermelon Jolly Rancher.  (yum)

The basil adds some freshness.

Things have been insane around my house lately. I have some big things going on at work and of course it falls around the same time as Austin’s first birthday. It hasn’t stopped me though. I’m in overdrive.

Work, cookbook work, birthday party prep (I can’t wait to show you some of the decorations) and still making time to have fun with the little munchie at the pool on the weekends and do at home date nights with Nick when we can.

This helps too.

I don’t think I will know what to do with myself when things slow down!

Boozy Sour Watermelon Basil Popsicles
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup fresh chopped basil
4 cups watermelon, cubed, pureed and strained Juice of one lemon
1/3 cup Watermelon Puckers
(I use these popsicle molds)
1. Boil water and sugar until the sugar dissolves.

2. Combine your water and sugar (also known as simple syrup) with your pureed and strained watermelon,   watermelon Puckers and basil. Let set for a few minutes so the flavors can combine.

3. Pour into your popsicle molds (make sure your basil is distributed evenly) and freeze over night.

you need to try concord grape. They totally taste like “purple.” I never understood grape flavoring until I had a hand full of concords.

These look great. I don’t love the texture of watermelon, but the ice pops totally solve that problem. 🙂
