Life Lately: My New Desk and Austin at 17 Months
Isn’t it lovely?
I’ve been wanting to update my desk for awhile but couldn’t find exactly what I wanted. The X shaped legs were a must but I couldn’t find it large enough in white. Also my desk is in a little nook in our kitchen which has a country feel to it. All the white desks I found were too contemporary.
But Nick saved the day. He found this one and painted it. He also spoiled me with a new huge white monitor and wireless keyboard, mouse and speaker. It’s hard not to want to sit here all day because I love it so much!
All I need now is a pop of pink or coral. I was thinking some flowers behind the framed photo.
Check out my “before” work space below.
Much better right?! If you are looking for a good step by step on how to paint furniture this one from Young House Love is really good.
I think I’ve watched this video of Austin at least 50 times already. I just had to share it with you guys. I love how he bounces up and down and almost looks like he is dancing with the beat. I loooooooove it when he dances.
I think my absolute favorite thing about him though is that he is such a lover. He loves hugs and kisses and cuddling always wants to sit in everyone’s lap. He hugs random people at the park … which won’t always be a good thing but for now it’s pretty darn cute.
I wonder if when we have other kids they will be that affectionate. I wonder if it’s because Nick and I have always been very affection people and he picks up on that or if it’s just something you are born with. It’s so fun to watch his personality start to form.
So this was supposed to be my recipe post this week. I am trying to make more party food for the holidays and not just drinks. The final product wasn’t bad but it wasn’t amazing either so I decided to hold it back. I’d rather post nothing then share a recipe with you guys that I am not proud of.
Nick says he could start a blog just posting all of the things I don’t end up posting! (Might be a good idea)
If you want a good cream cheese spread recipe that is similar to this one try this from Mel’s Kitchen instead.
Here is me and the munchie watching some Team UmiZoomi. It’s his new favorite show. He also got a new haircut and this new stuffed animal named “Batty” from my Aunt Shannon. It’s actually called an “Ugly Doll” He loves it. 🙂
Last but not least here is a picture of my commute. Fun right? At least the fall trees on the George Washington Parkway are gorgeous. I try and leave early in the morning so I dont have to sit though this everyday. But sometimes I want see Austin before I leave for work and if I do that, I sit in this.
We all make sacrifices though. I love my job, I love our house and our neighborhood. I don’t want to give up either one so we make it work. I’m lucky to have a husband who helps make all the puzzle pieces fit together.
Okay, that’s enough for now. More holiday pudding and jello shots coming soon.
