Normally I would say my birthday but this year I started to feel old so this time I will say getting to go back home for three months to be with the most amazing people I know, my family <3 <3 <3 I have always loved my family more than anyone in the entire world; however, I did not really learn what a home was until this year. My family and I are very tight-knit and have always done everything together; so I was ecstatic when I got accepted to my dream school far away from home. It meant that I would finally have friends outside of my family and get to go on adventures without my family. I thought it would be awesome and so much fun. Boy, was I wrong. So very wrong. The second week of school my grandmother who I was very close to and lived near my whole life was diagnosed with stage four Lymphoma. It broke my heart. My roommate was so mean and said she was uncomfortable with me crying and getting emotional in the room and not a single person gave me a hug or offered condolences or words of encouragement. I longed for my family and their warmth and kindness and basically spent all of my time on FaceTime with them. A couple of weeks went by, and my blessed grandmother, may she rest in peace, passed away. She was gone forever. I could not believe it. I was so devastated. Did any of my so-called 'friends' care? No. Not only did they go about their lives like nothing happened to me, someone who was only kind to them, but they decided to treat me badly and bully me as well. It was Hell, and I just wanted to go home. Home is a place were people love you and understand you and will be there for you when you need them. Home would never feel like Hell. I'm glad I now know that.
